The Press Room will provide services for print, broadcast, and online reporters from around the world during the Ecocity World Summit 2011.
The Ecocity World Summit 2011 will take place at the Palais des congrès de Montréal from August 22-26, 2011. More than 1,500 participants from over 50 countries are expected to attend. It is the first Ecocity World Summit to be held in a Northern climate city. Ecocity 2011 is 9th in a series of international conferences held since 1990 on the theme of the sustainable city.
In 1990, the City of Berkeley hosted a conference convened by Richard Register and nonprofit Urban Ecology on cities that changed hearts and minds, as well a fair number of careers. The message was simple. “Cities and towns are the largest things humans build and the way we’re building them is destroying the planet. Why not, instead, build cities in balance with nature?” The International Ecocity Conference Series has been held in seven countries:

Press Room Guidelines
The Ecocity World Summit 2011 registration fees are waived for journalists with credentials. Press badges are available only to working journalists and writers, who must show the proper credentials.
Press badges give access to all concurrent sessions, keynotes, public keynotes, panels, post-conference event and the exhibition.
Press Credentials
Ecocity World Summit 2011 accepts the following as credentials for press:
• Business card clearly showing media affiliation (a print, online, or broadcast news organization) and position (editor, writer, producer, reporter, etc.).
• Letter of assignment on official company letterhead, in French or English, from an editor of a recognized publication or a producer of a broadcast program certifying that you are covering the conference for the respective news organization.
• Or letter of intent, in French or English, for how their information from the Ecocity World Summit will be used.
International Media
International media are representatives of media that are not based in Canada. International media are required to pre-register in advance for the Ecocity World Summit 2011, by August 15, 2011.
Press Registration
Advance registration for the Ecocity World Summit 2011 Press Room is a simple, two-step process.
Step 1
Download a Press Registration Form.
Step 2
Return the completed form and an electronic copy of your press credentials in French or English by e-mail to media@ecocity2011.com or by fax to + 1 514 395-1801.
When your registration is approved by the Ecocity 2011 organization committee, a confirmation will be e-mailed to you. Based on space requirements, we reserve the right to limit the number of press badges issued to a news organization.
